The Out-of-Towners
Product Details
Year: 1999
Cast: Goldie Hawn, Steve Martin, John Cleese, Oliver Hudson, Mark McKinney
Directed By: Sam Weisman
Hawn and Martin are Nancy and Henry Clark, middle-aged Ohio empty-nesters headed for Henry's job interview in New York. Along the way, they're thwarted by every tourist nightmare obstacle imaginable: rerouting to Boston, missed trains, rental car mishaps, muggings, maxed credit cards, snooty hotel personnel, etc, etc. Martin's seen all this before (in "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles") and so have we, in any number of movies, including the original 1970 Neil Simon script. Mostly uninspired and inconsistent, with flashes of fine physical comedy from Hawn and Martin. Cleese plays a familiar role as a needlessly pompous hotel manager.
